It’s a Three-Peat Title for Liberty; Schreiner Wins Women’s Division

| Scott Farrell

ALLEN, Texas – Liberty tied its own NCWA record with five individual champions, and added three runners-up and a third-place finisher to tie another record with its third consecutive NCWA team championship. The Flames are one of only two teams – Grand Valley State did it from 2006-08 – to win three straight NCWA titles.

It was Liberty’s fourth team title in five seasons, and only Grand Valley State has won more (five).

The Women’s Coach of the Year went to RPI’s Brad Nelson. The men’s Coach of the Year went to Evan Hess of USC.

The Most Outstanding Wrestler in the women’s division went to Liberty’s Cendall Manley coming off her fourth consecutive NCWA title. The men’s division’s Most Oustanding Wrestler went to Ty’Rae Carter of Texas A&M, who repeats as MOW coming off his second consecutive national title at 149 lbs.
