Job summary:
The department of Intercollegiate Athletics at The Apprentice School invites applications for qualified individuals to serve as its Head Men’s Wrestling Coach. The Head Coach is responsible for initiating various aspects of the Men's Wrestling program, such as recruiting, scheduling opponents, training, and coaching team members. The Head Coach is required to abide by the rules and regulations established by The Apprentice School.
Summary of essential job functions:
Duties and responsibilities: Direct all aspects of the coaching and management of the men’s wrestling program. Demonstrate a working knowledge of and ability to comply with the rules and regulations of the NCAA. NCWA, and USCAA. Operate the men’s wrestling program within its established budget. Work with athletic training and strength and conditioning staffs in developing and implementing off-season conditioning programs. Supervise and develop assistant wrestling coaches. Oversee the conduct of and provide general counsel on academic and craft training progress to team members. Promote the general health and safety of team members. Construct the match schedule with the approval of the Director of Athletics. Recruit highly qualified student-athletes consistent with the standards of a competitive NCAA Division III men’s wrestling program and the craft and academic standards of The Apprentice School. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Provide leadership and instruction in the personal and athletic development of student-athletes. Establish and maintain effective relationships with The Apprentice School, College and University community and its various constituents.
Minimum requirements:
Qualifications: Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and experience as a successful wrestling coach. Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, a minimum of two years of experience as a successful Head Men’s Wrestling Coach at the college level and/or three years of experience as an assistant coach at the Division II or higher level, demonstrated success in recruitment of scholarship athletes, knowledge of and adherence to NCAA. NCWA, and USCAA rules and regulations, effective leadership and communication skills and a commitment to athletic excellence in an academic environment. Employment will require a criminal background check.
Terms of Employment:
12-month appointment. Contracted position with salary range of $27k-$32k. No benefits. Starting date is negotiable but will be no later than July 1st.
