NCWA National Duals Creates a Pilot Regional Program
The NCWA board voted to create a pilot program of establishing regional duals tournaments as qualifiers to its National Duals, which are part of its Collegiate Cup Series. The pilot program will begin with a Western Regional Duals tournament this fall for eligible teams within the Northwest, West Coast and Great Plains Conferences, held at a location yet to be announced. The top eight teams at the initial tournament will receive team points toward the National Championships as per the Collegiate Cup Series system (eight points for first, seven for second, down to one point for 8th). The winner will receive automatic entry into the National Duals with the entry fee waived.
The effort is to give teams from those three conferences, which normally do not have the budgets to travel across the country to the National Duals, the opportunity to still be included in the Collegiate Cup scoring system. The NCWA will revisit the item following its first year at next year’s Vision Forum.
