Alex Garcia (SVSU Head Coach) and Grant MacKenzie (HFCC Head Coach) creatively started a new tradition between the two NCWA programs. Every time the schools dual each other, the winner will take home a trophy. The competition is called "Battle for the Bird" based on the two schools mascot: SVSU "Cardinals" and HFCC "Hawks".
