DUBOIS, Pa. – Freshman Troy Leid (Terre Hill) recorded a fall at 157 for the Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team as it competed in its first Penn State University Athletic Conference match of the year against Penn State DuBois. The Wildcats were just edged out losing 27-19 despite winning five bouts. Leid recorded the fall against Ty Haines at just 1:36. With the loss, Penn College falls to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in the PSUAC.
DuBois jumped out to an 18-0 lead taking the first four matches that included a fall and technical fall. Leid’s pin ended the run helping swing momentum as freshman Taylor Porter (Milton) followed at 165 with a 10-2 major decision over Jake Himes. Freshman Joe Champluvier (Laceyville) made it 18-3 taking down Joe Knarr in a 16-9 decision at 174.
After the Lions made it 27-13 with wins at 184 and 197, freshman Patrick Fitzgerald (Port Royal) pulled out a 4-3 overtime win at 235 to down Tim Suydan. At 285, freshman Nicholas Reber (Hamburg) closed out the match with a 2-1 decision over Andrew Bigley.
Next up, Penn College hosts Muhlenberg College on Saturday, Nov. 16 for a 1 p.m. match.
