USC Trojans hit the mats with little help from University

The state of California has more schools that offer wrestling in the high school level than any other state in the nation. Yet, the Golden State has only three Universities that offer wrestling in the Division 1 level. Stanford University, Cal State Bakersfield and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo - all three compete in the Pac 12 conference.
Many of California’s best wrestlers who placed in the state are left behind without the chance to showcase their talent in the next level because of the lack of opportunities. But thanks to the National Collegiate Wrestling Association, colleges with no current wrestling teams are creating new programs around the nation to compete with other NCWA clubs. The best part of it all is that they don’t only compete amongst NCWA Clubs, they also compete against NAIA, NJCAA and NCAA schools.
