PSNK Wrestlers ComĀpete at Knight Point Open
The Penn State New Kensington Wrestling team kicked off the 2012-13 season at the Knight Point Open on Sunday at Clarion University. A trio of wrestlers competed for the New Ken Lions with one, Matt Kepple, picking up a win at the 184 pound weight class.
Kepple's win came in his second-round consolation match against Matthew McVay of Navy. The 184-pound junior was able to pick up a riding time point to knot the match at 3-3 after being taken down late in the 3rd. Kepple got in deep on a single leg and finished nicely to get the 5-3 overtime victory.
Kevin Uncapher (141) and Andrew Floyd (157) also competed on Sunday for PSNK. Each of these wrestlers are up a weight class from their desired positions in the PSNK lineup.
Penn State New Kensington will be back in action on Saturday, November 10th as they travel to the Washington & Jefferson Invitational in Washington, Pa. The New Ken Lions will wait until 2013 for their first conference dual meet on January 9th against Penn State Greater Allegheny.
