Title Times Three
PRESCOTT, Ariz. --- California Baptist University cleaned house at the 2010 Embry-Riddle Collegiate Wrestling Championships Saturday, claiming three titles and posting seven placers.
Matthew Galton at 125, Dylan Cataline at 141 and Caleb Gerl at 197 all won their respective weight classes.
Anthony Meza (197) finished second, Bronson Gerl (157) and Chris Santana (149) were third, and Kenneth Tribble (174) finished sixth to round out the Lancers' placers.
"This was a good tournament, and we showed really well," said CBU Head Coach John Petty. "The guys wrestled great, and I'm really pleased with our progress. They have put in a lot of work in the weight room working with our new strength coach, and we're seeing the results start to pay off. We're consistently getting better."
Galton won the 125 weight class by defeating Josh Sandoval of Arizona State-Unattached, 5-2, in the finals. Cataline defeated Peter Hoang of Titan Wrestling Club, 6-3, and Gerl scored an 11-2 major decision over his teammate Meza.
The six Lancer placers combined to go an impressive15-5.
