Shames knocks off numĀber 1 ranked wrestler in New England
MIT Freshman Sam Shames won the Ted Reese Invitational this weekend going 4 and 0 on the day. Shames defeated the number 1 ranked 125 pounder in New England, Josh Huber of Plymouth State by a score of 7 to 4 in the finals. Sam was also voted the most outstanding wrestler of the tournament. MIT finished in 4th place as a team. Also placing for the Engineers was Senior captain Grant Kadokura finishing 2nd at 133 pounds and Senior Kenzan Tanabe finishing 4th, going 3 and 2 at 149 pounds. Sophomore Brian Anderson went 5 and 1 on the day finishing 3rd at 184 pounds. Freshman Jake Laux was 3 and 2 on the day and finished in 4th place at 197 pounds. The MIT wrestling teams next competition will be the North/South Duals hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, January 8th.
