ORLANDO, FL. - The MMI wrestlers traveled to Orlando, Florida this past weekend to participate in the University of Central Florida Duals and Open Tournament. The duals took place Friday evening with Marion winning one of three. The tigers lost to Sierra Communiy College and The Apprentice School before defeating Georgia Southern.
In the Open Tournament Saturday morning MMI was able to finish 3rd behind Sierra CC and the host school, UCF. Brandon Westerman and Tyler DeMott both were crowned champions at the tournament, one of the toughest on this year's schedule. Placing 3rd were Austin Souders at 133-lbs, Trevor Bailey at 149-lbs. and Joel Wyman at 235-lbs. Kevin Koch (174-lb.) placed 4th while Logan Sherrill (184-lb.) and Mark Howard (197-lb.) both placed 6th in the tournament.
The MMI wrestling team will take to the mat next on Saturday, December 4th at the Cavalier Duals held in Albany, Georgia. This tournament is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m.
