Navy Prep Claims Third at NCWA Nationals

The U.S. Naval Academy Prep School placed all five of its NCWA Championships qualifiers, and went a combined 22-4 to come away in third place, one spot above its fourth-place showing in 2008.
The Naval Academy Prep’s individual results were:
Jake Schalles was national champion at 165 pounds. Schalles wrestled well through the tournament and didn't surrender a single offensive point during the entire affair. He defeated Matt Gobin of the U.S. Military Academy Prep School, 6-1, in the national title match.
Nick Hylton was national champion at 197 pounds. Hylton compiled a pin, three decisions and a major decision on his way to the title. He defeated Dan Brower of Miami (Ohio), 9-8, in the final.
Matt Jackson earned All-American honors in third place at 157 pounds. He lost a close match to Peter Rose of Southern Virginia, but battled back to take third over Eric Powell of The Williamson School of Free Trade.
Oscar Huntley earned All-American honors in third place at 174 pounds. Huntley opened the tourney with a technical fall and a fall, but lost in the semifinals to Ross Cravens of Kennesaw State, 12-7. He made his way through the consolation side of the bracket to take third with a 14-6 major decision over Charles Mills of national champion The Apprentice School.
Chris Piccolella earned All-American honors in fifth place at 149 pounds. Piccolella lost a heartbreaker in overtime in his semifinal bout against eventual champion Dillon Evans of West Chester (Pa.). Piccolella defeated Cody Streuning of Northampton Community College, 7-5, to claim fifth.
