YORK, PA. - In a standout field with for nationally-ranked NCAA Division III teams and a pair of NCAA Division I squads, the Apprentice School wrestling team finished tied for fifth out of 10 teams in the York Spartan Invitational on Saturday in York, Pa. They finished behind the nationally-ranked teams and ahead of the NCAA Division I teams.
Six wrestlers finished in the top six with Cecil Lee taking third at heavyweight to top that group. The Portsmouth, Va. senior went 4-1 with an opening round pin of Brice Jacobs of Delaware State highlighting the day. With that pin, he is now tied for second in the modern era with 39 career falls. After his four wins on the day, he is now nine wins from the magic 100 mark in his career as his career record is now 91-43.
Freshmen Charles Mills and Quinten Bowling each finished fourth at 174 and 184 pounds respectively. Mills went 4-2 with three pinfall victories, while Bowling went 2-2 with one pin.
Finishing in the top six in their weight classes were junior Ty Holley at 133 pounds, junior Matt Perry at 149, and sophomore Daniel Hare at 184.
Next up for the Builders will be a dual match on December 16 at NCAA Division II St. Andrews Presbyterian College at 6 pm.
