Bright Future Ahead For the Hofstra Pride

11/13/2009 -

Despite a slow start this season, the future looks very bright for Hofstra University Wrestling Club, who are coming into their sophomore season with the NCWA. With nationals quarter-finalist Jesse Koproski (165) graduated, Hofstra still has high hopes for many new and returning wrestlers. Junior Jon Tan will be returning at 133, who was one of Hofstra’s national qualifiers last year. Senior captain and founding member Eli Mazer will be returning to the line-up at 149. Be on the lookout for Junior Dan Wandell, who had a fantastic season at 184 last year, but was unfortunately unable to wrestle in the conference tournament. Sophmore Rob Piscitello, who is a former NCAA wrestler for Hofstra, will be joining the team this year. Look for him to make a lot of noise at 184/197. Junior Steve Incarnato, who was a transfer from SUNY Albany, will be wrestling at 157. Also, Freshmen New York Section 8 placer Gary Kavarsky will be wrestling for the team at 141/133. Other wrestlers with potential to contend include Sophmore Matt Plotkin (184), Freshmen Nate Bobrick (157), Freshmen Justin Hochberg (165), Senior Jacey Lally(197), Junior Jose Fabre (174), Sophmore Frank Lopresti (165), and Sophmore Kevin Chee (125). Hofstra Wrestling Club will be making their first competition appearance of the season at SUNY Albany for the Veteran’s Day Duels on November 13th.
