Florida State & Florida A&M host another great event

Tallahassee, FL. – Florida A&M University, Florida State University hosted to the 11th Annual Seminole/Rattler/Eagle Invitational. This year’s tournament included some of the top teams in the Southeast including programs from 4th ranked nationally University of Central Florida, 12th ranked Mercer University, 13th ranked University of North Florida and 14th ranked University of South Florida.
The wrestling Seminoles of FSU had an outstanding showing at 165lb Francis Bianco from Bradenton, Florida went 3 – 3 on the day with key wins against Auburn’s Devilliers Fall 3:51 and UCF ‘s Brady MajDec 10-2. 174 lb Dalton Hendrix also had an impressive day going 2 - 2 with a key win over UGA’s Sauer Dec 11-7.
The Rattlers of FAMU might have been small with number but made a little noise thought out the day. 141 lb Phillip Menendez lost a close Dec 11-6 against Jake Jensen of UGA. At the 235 lb class Michael Ducre provided some fireworks with 3 pins on the day all in the 1st period.
This year event had 82 competitors that traveled to Florida’s capital city , the 10 team field produced exciting match-ups all through the day especially in the 165-pound bracket where University of Georgia’s returning All-American last year Serrgio Ardila won with a decisive victory in the finals against Cody Lane of MMI Dec 9-4.
In possibly a Southeastern Conference Finals Championship match came at the 235-pound bracket where University of Georgia’s returning 2011 All-American Paul Ardila took advantage of a costly mistake by University of North Florida’s Stuart Maddox for a Dec 3-2 in the finals
The tournament’s most outstanding wrestler for the lightweight classes went to UGA’s 149 lb John Cook. Cook would his weight class with two pins fall 4:30 and fall 2:35. For the heavyweight class the most outstanding wrestler award went to UGA’s 235 lb Paul Ardila with a Fall 1:30, Maj Dec 12-1 and Dec 3-2.
