MIT Finishes Strong at Northeast Conference National Qualifier

The MIT Wrestling Team competed at the Northeast Conference National Qualifier at Springfield Technical Community College and finished tied for 5th place as a team. The Engineers put 3 wrestlers in the finals and had 4 wrestlers place in the top 4. MIT Defeats Yale and University of Rhode Island

The MIT Wrestling team competed at The Esquivel Duals and defeated both Yale University and the University of Rhode Island by the same score of 30-24 on Saturday. Freshman, Keith Skaggs won both of his matches by fall. Grad student, Jacob Adams won 3 matches, 2 by pin and 1 forfeit extending his win streak to 7. Junior George Friedlander was 2 and 0 on the day. Senior captain Frank Soucy and Johnathon Brown won both of their matches by fall. Grad student and first year wrestler Brendan O’Neill lost 2 hard fought matches.

The team travels to the University of New Hampshire on Sunday, February 17th to compete at the Henry Marsh Invitational.

MIT's Skaggs Places Third at Jim Aguiar

The MIT wrestling team traveled to Plymouth State University on Saturday, January 12th to compete at the Jim Aguiar Invitational. MIT finished in 10th place as a team. 2019 NCWA National Duals Field Set!

The field for the 2019 NCWA National Duals hosted by the West Coast Conference has been announced by the NCWA.  The event will take place at the Casa Blana Resort in Mesquite, Nevada on January 25-26, 2019.  The two closest cities to the venue are St. George, UT (home of Dixie State University) and Las Vegas, NV (home of UNLV).

MIT Wrestler Earns Rhodes Scholarship

Matthew Chun, from Arlington, Virginia, is an MIT senior majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in management science. As a Rhodes Scholar, Chun seeks to further his knowledge of policy and law, with the goal of advising organizations that bring life-improving technologies to countries around the world. At Oxford, he will pursue a second BA in jurisprudence before returning to the U.S. to enroll in law school with a focus on intellectual property.

2017-18 NCWA Preseason Individual and Team Rankings Released!

NCWA-D1 #1 ranked Central Florida looks tough leading into the 2017-18 season with several returning All-Americans including three #1 ranked wrestlers at 125, 133, and 285.  They will get a tough challenge in the first weekend as they visit #2 MTSU for the Blue Raider Invite in Murfreesboro, TN.  Rounding out the top-10 are #3 Grand Valley State, #4 Emmanuel College (the two-time defending D1 champs), #5 Springfield Tech, #6 Apprentice, #7 Toledo, #8 Liberty, #9 Alfred State, Brigham Young, and Maine.

MIT Places 5th at NEC

The MIT wrestling team traveled to the University of New Hampshire for the Northeast Conference Championships which is the NCWA national qualifier. Five wrestlers qualified for the national tournament.

The MIT wrestling team hosted the first annual Andrew Esquivel Duals in memory of Andrew Esquivel at MIT on Saturday, February 11th. MIT Captain Lowman Wins Ted Reese Invitational

The MIT Wrestling Team traveled to the Ted Reese Invitational in Gorham Maine on December 3rd. MIT finished in 10th place. Senior, captain, Joe Lowman won the 197 pound weight class in dominating fashion. Joe was 3 and 0 on the day with 1 technical fall and 2 pins. This is Joe’s first tournament win. Joe was on a mission. He was attacking and pressuring his opponents right off the whistle and would not let up until the match was over.
