The Fourth Is A First — Jeff Allen Wins Historic Fourth Men’s National Title
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Jeff Allen of Liberty became the most decorated men's wrestler in association history Saturday when he won the 235-pound bracket at the NCWA Championships. Allen defeated Zeke Alleman of Utah Tech, 5-4, for his fourth consecutive national title – he is the first male wrestler in NCWA history to win four and joins 4 women with the honor of 4 titles!
Allen scored a takedown with 36 seconds left in the match to take a 5-3 lead before yielding an escape before time ran out.
Allen, a senior from Monroe, Va., also won national titles in 2022, 2020 and 2019. There was not an NCWA national tournament in 2021 due to COVID protocols.
Liberty was battling for its fifth consecutive NCWA team title at the time of this writing. The Flames ended up in second place with a sweep of the final three national championships, including Allen at 235.
