SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – STCC men's wrestling team on Saturday became the first community college to win the National Collegiate Wrestling Association Northeast Conference Regional Championship. Wrestlers from the men’s and women’s teams will next compete in the NCWA Nationals at Allen, Texas, which begins March 9.
The NCWA Postseason has officially started with the completion of the Conference Championship qualifiers. The rankings have shifted quite a bit due to upsets and guys coming out of nowhere. Which of these guys will stand on the podium come March 11th in Allen, Texas?
The CSU wrestling team qualified seven wrestlers for the National Collegiate Wrestling Association national tournament. Colorado State came in fourth place at the Great Plains Conference Championships out of eight teams. The Rams finished behind Iowa State, Air Force Prep and Wayne State.
The MIT wrestling team traveled to the University of New Hampshire for the Northeast Conference Championships which is the NCWA national qualifier. Five wrestlers qualified for the national tournament.
There was considerable movement in the NCWA Individual Rankings due to head-to-head results at both the National Duals and Western Regional Duals that saw a total of 36 NCWA squads compete from January 27-28, 2017.
The MIT wrestling team hosted the first annual Andrew Esquivel Duals in memory of Andrew Esquivel at MIT on Saturday, February 11th.
