Douglas Wrestling Alumni set to Compete at Canadian Olympic Trials

Douglas College Alumni are in their final phase of preparation for the Canadian Olympic Trials in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 16th and 17th. In menís qualifying, Aso Palani and Frank Mensah will be competing at 55kg, John Pineda and Raj Virdi will be competing at 60kg, Travis Cross will be competing at 84kg, and Arjun Gill and Manjot Sandhu will be competing at 96kg. In the womenís qualifying, Amanda Gerhart will be competing at 55kg. Palani, Mensah, Pineda and Cross are all former NCWA National Champions for Douglas College. Winners of the Canadian Trials will represent Canada in international qualification attempts for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Cross has previous Olympic experience, having represented Canada at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The team will be led by former Royalís Head Coach, Dave McKay. Other Douglas College Royals representing Canada in Olympic Gamesí include Daniel Igali (Gold Medalist, Sidney 2000), Lyndsay Belisle (Athens 2004), Craig Roberts (Atlanta 1996), Yogi Johl (Atlanta 1996) and Dave McKay (Coach, 2000, 2004, 2008).

Royals Co-Host Roberts Rumble
