The Evergreen State College Team Press Releases2013 NCWA Washingon State Championships | 03/02/2013 -
The Evergreen State College hosted the first NCWA state championships in Washington on Feb 24. There were six teams represents in the tournament: The Evergreen State College, Western Washington University, Douglas College, Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University and Washington State University.
The depth of Central Washington was the difference maker for the team race. CWU's entered two wrestlers at a number of weights. These extra scorers allowed CWU to overcome the five individual champions of Eastern Washington University.
The most competitive weight of the tournament was 157. CWU's Nick Bendon earned one point victories over WWU's Steven Harvey and WSU's Brett Johnson on his way to the title. Bendon was also a 2012 NJCAA All-American for Southwest Oregon Community College.
