| | Achievements: | In his first year as head coach of the Penn State New Kensington wrestling program, Derek looks to build a solid foundation, and cement his name as one of the top up-and coming coaches in the PSUAC. Derek grew up in Curwensville PA, and attended Curwenswille high school. He was a 3 year letter winner, and a member of the national honor soceity. After high school, Derek attended Lock Haven University, where he continued his success on and off the wrestling mats. He was a 3 year letter winner, a 2 time EWL place winner, and his academic achievements landed him a place on the 2008 and 2010 PSAC All-Academic team. He graduated in 2010 with a bachelor's in communications broadcasting media. After graduating from Lock Haven in 2010, Derek continued both his education and wrestling experience. He was a graduate assistant for athletics department at Lock Haven University, and graduated with his masters in Liberal Arts. While working in the athletic department, he also helped the wrestling team as much as he could, to further his experience in hopes of becoming a head wrestling coach one day.
