Panthers get serious, take on first-year woes

Upon starting up the Panther Wrestling Club at the University of Pittsburgh last year, founder Jacob Brown found a new challenge: getting his team into competition.

In its second year, the Panther Wrestling Team came out with a new attitude towards competition. With more than double the members since last year, the program has begun to plan its future in the NCWA.

Starting competition a little late because of funding problems, the team is planning on making its way into competition in December and carrying on through the new year.

With little more experience in running a competition club, neither he nor his first-year coach, senior Nathan Cookerly can make their team's budgetary problems any easier, working with a rigid student government. What they can do and have done, however, is prepare their fledgling team to take down the competition.
