Texas Grapples at National Duals

01/28/2014 -
The Longhorn Wrestling Club (LWC) wrestled in the NCWA National Duals for the first time on January 25-26, 2014.
Despite having lost several key team members to grades etc, the LWC brought six guys and one girl to the event and went 2-3 overall and finished in 19th place (out of 24) . That 19th place finish may not seem like much to brag about, however each team member received valuable experience, wrestling at least 5x, some getting to go up against nationally ranked opponents. The 19th place finish also provides the longhorns with a 6 point start to this years National Division 2 title quest. Overall the team is extremely pleased with the experience and will plan on attending again next year. Highlights for the horns would be top performances by its captains 157 lb Jordan Hildreth (4-1) 197 lb Jordan Bridgers(4-1)and 235 lb Michael Mahoney (4-1) at the event. Hopefully the LWC will get back some of it key returning National qualifiers from last year and finish the season strong.
