Coaching Experience:Paul Myers returns to Wichita State after a championship season during the 2011-2012 opening season for the Shocker Wrestling squad. Myers coached the new team to an NCWA Division II National Title in 2011-2012, while also crowning two All-Americans. He was also named the NCWA National Coach of Year for his efforts.

Myers also has experience beyond his reign at Wichita State. Myers wrestled for Wichita West High School from 1991-95, where he was a 2X medalist and won Class 6A Kansas State Championship in 1994. It was in 1994 where he also helped West High claim their first KSHSAA State Championship in school history. He compiled a record of 100-18. Outside of the high school division, Myers was a 2X Kansas State Champion in freestyle and 2X champion in Greco Roman. He qualified for the Kansas Junior Nationals Team in 1994 and 1995.


After graduating from Wichita West in 1995, Myers attended the University of Kansas where he wrestled on their club team. In 1996 he joined the Heights wrestling staff as an assistant where they won the City League Championship. From 1997-01 he was an assistant at West High where the Pioneers won their second KSHSAA State Championship. From 2003-07, Myers coached at The Independent School. He was an assistant to the high school and head wrestling coach of the middle school. It is here that he helped the Panthers build a Top 10 wrestling program in class 1-2-3A.


Myers currently teaches in the Wichita Public School District. He has a 6 year old son, Bishop and is recently married to Samantha Myers.



Name:Todd Sanchez

Coaching Experience:Todd Sanchez, a native of Wichita, KS comes to the Wichita State University coaching staff in 2012-2013 with both high school and college coaching experience. Sanchez spent two years coaching at the NAIA level and four years coaching at the high school level.

In high school Sanchez wrestled for the KSHSAA 2001 6A state championship team at Wichita West High School, earning a third place finish at 130 lbs. Outside of high school Sanchez competed in both Freestyle and Greco, finishing in the top three at the Kansas State Championships in freestyle and Greco Roman multiple times.

After graduating from Wichita West in 2001, Sanchez attended the University of Minnesota-Morris where he wrestled at the NCAA Division II level from 2001-2004. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, Sanchez was named all conference wrestler at 141 lbs in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. In 2006 Sanchez joined the Morris-Area/Hancock High School Coaching staff in Morris, MN and coached two wrestlers to a state medal. Also in 2006 Sanchez was hired as the Head Wrestling Coach at Bacone College in Muskogee, OK where he coached a total of 10 national qualifiers over a two year period. From 2008-2011 Sanchez joined the Wichita South Coaching staff and assisted in top GWAL conference finishes and coaching multiple state placers.


Sanchez was also a member of the Army National Guard from 2001-2012 and in 2005 took a year out of school to be mobilized and deploy to Iraq with the Minnesota Army National Guard as a military police officer in support of U.S. combat operations.

Sanchez currently teaches social studies in the Wichita Public schools. He has been married to his wife Ashley for 6 years and has two children, Teagon and Reagan.
