Royals Co-Host Roberts Rumble

12/07/2010 -

The Douglas Royals co-hosted the Roberts Rumble High School Duals in Burnaby, BC on December 4th. This dual tournament is an annual event put together to challenge high school teams in a rare dual format, while celebrating the life of former outstanding Douglas and Simon Fraser University athlete Craig Roberts, who died from Cancer in 2006.
After winning 4 straight BC High school championships for Smithers Secondary, Craig began his post secondary wrestling career at Douglas College. He eventually moved on to SFU where he became a 3 X NAIA All American and National team member. He was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 2002.
Roberts closed out his outstanding career by representing Canada in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
Proceeds from the tournament are used to support a Roberts memorial fund.
