MIT wins Groundhog Day Invitational

The MIT wrestling team placed first in the first annual Groundhog Day Invitational scoring 108 points. The Engineers had 3 champions and 3 runners up. Junior Grant Kadokura was 3 and 0 on the day with a pin, technical fall and a major winning the 125 pound weight class and improved his record to 15 and 8. Freshman Ryan Madson improved his record to 25 and 6 with a forfeit and 3 pins on his way to the 165 pound title. Freshman Bee Vang improved to 14 and 13 winning the 133 pound weight class and also won the outstanding wrestler award for the light weights. Senior Joe Silverman at 197 pounds, Junior Kenzan Tanabe at 141 pounds and Freshman Luke Schiefelbein at 174 pounds finished 2nd. The MIT wrestling team will compete at the New England Championships this Sunday (2/14/10) at the University of New Hampshire. Wrestling starts at 10am
