Three members of Blairís PG team competed in the Wilkes Open, facing tough competition from all levels of college wrestling. At 125 lbs., Scott Collins won his first match before losing two in a row.
Mark Cirello (149lbs.) won two matches before also losing two in a row. In his second match, he rode out his opponent in the third period to earn the riding time point and send the match into overtime. In the one-minute sudden death, Mark fought hard for and earned a takedown to secure the victory. Mark then lost two close matches to end out his day.
At 285lbs, Rod Sharp started the day off in fine form with a pin in his first match. He lost his next match to the eventual champion and dropped down to the consolation round where he pinned his next opponent in ten seconds. Rod won one more match before losing again.
The squad sees action again this Sunday at the Long Island Open.
