UTA Competes at the Dan Harris Wildcat Open

Arlington, TX - The University of Texas - Arlington wrestling team competed in Baldwin KS Sunday morning in the Dan Harris Wildcat Open. The Mavericks were led by senior David Barringer (Lewis Palmer, HS CO.) wrestling at 157 lbs (2-2 record). David made it into the 5th place match but due to time restraints the matches were not wrestled.

Barringer won his first bout by technical decision against Corby Carillo from Dana College 17-2. His second win of the day was against Josh Isam from Neosho College 11-5. David wrestled Jesse Hulett twice during tournament and lost by pin and by major decision.
Other Maverick wrestlers to win matches were at 125 Vihn Ho (Flower Mound Marcus HS) and Jose Lazo (Irving HS). Matt Morgan (Katy HS) at 133 won his first college match by pin. Ray Ramirez (Labett CC) wrestled tough had his first victory of the year as well

The Mavericks next wrestling tournament will be next Saturday, November 14 at the Brawl at the Boro, hosted Middle Tennessee State University.
