Flames Go 1-3 In State Duals

CHATTANOOGA, TN - The Lee Flames competed in the 2nd Annual NCWA Tennessee State Duals this past Saturday on February 21. The Flames went 1-3 on the day and ended their last match with a 19-18 win over Vanderbilt University. Lee opened up their first round against Austin Peay State University and lost 18-17. The Flames then wrestled against Tennessee Temple University and were defeated by a score of 42-9. In the third round, the Flames lost against Middle Tennessee State University 40-16. Tennessee Temple University captured the championship title of the evening by defeating Middle Tennessee State University 30-24. Both senior Joe Jellison (125) and junior Casey Grisham (157) went undefeated in their matches by posting a 4-0 record on the day. Freshman Stephen Ward (174) went 2-2 while Irvin Lilly, Jr. (235) posted one win. The Lee Flames will hit the mats again on Saturday February 28, in the NCWA Mid-Atlantic Conference Championships.
