On January 7, 2009, Dr. Reid Derr, head coach of the EGC Bobcats, announced his resignation as head coach, effective at the end of the 2008-2009 season. Derr cited declining health and pressures of both teaching and coaching as reasons for his departure. However, he noted the rich friendships he has developed and the fun he has had working with NCWA coaches and wrestlers over the four years of his tenure with the Bobcats.
