Bowling Green State Finishes Regular Season on Positive Note

02/27/2008 -

BGSU was able to put together good performances in back to back weekends to conclude the regular season on a high note.

On February 10th the Falcons participated in the University of Toledo Duals going up against an all Ohio line up of teams from Ohio State, University of Dayton, Cleveland State, Miami, Ohio University, and Northwest Ohio rival, University of Toledo. BGSU met always tough Toledo in the tournament Championship match and prevailed 38 to 14 over the Rockets.

The Falcons traveled to Columbus on February 16th to compete in the Ohio State NCWA Classic. BGSU took second to four time NCWA National Champion, Grand Valley State University, in this very competitive seven team tournament which also included OSU, Mott Community College, Ohio University, Dayton and Cleveland State.

BGSU finished the regular season with a dual record of 10 and 1, with the team’s sole dual loss coming against Newman University at the Cliff Keen National Duals in Iowa.

The Falcons next compete in the North Central Conference Championships to be held in Columbus on March 2nd. Last season, the competitive NCC produced NCWA National Champion, GVSU, four NCWA National Champions and twenty-three NCWA All-Americans. The quality of the NCC teams and wrestlers scheduled to attend the Conference Championships this year has not diminished, and BGSU wrestlers will have to be at the “top of their game” to advance to the NCWA National Championships scheduled March 13th-15th in Lakeland, Florida.
