MIT Wins 2012 Groundhog Day Tournament
The MIT wrestling team won the 2012 Groundhog day tournament by a 4 point margin over Navy Prep (NAPS). MIT put 5 in the fianals and came away with 3 champions. Sophomore Sam Shames continues his dominance @ 125 pounds with 2 pins and a technical fall in the finals. Junior Ryan Madson won the 165 pound weight class pinning all 3 opponents giving him 19 pins on the year. Junior Bee Vang competing @ 133 pounds looked great winning his weight class. The move down from 141 was a good decision for Bee. Junior Brian Anderson finished 2nd @ 184 pounds. Brian is wrestling very well right now. He will have an opportunity this weekend to get revenge on his loss in the finals. Sophomore Jake Laux finished 2nd @ 197. He had 2 pins and hurt his knee in the semi finals and defaulted to 2nd place. Sophomore Tyler Laprade finished the day 1 and 2 with a pin. The team will be competing Saturday at noon against Navy Prep and West Chester in Newport, Rhode Island.
